Conventions of Institutional Credits

An Education - http://www.artofthetitle.com/title/an-education/

The opening sequence of An Education is set in an all girls school as  and you can tell the story had something to do with a school girls but this is not shown in the opening sequence. The themes of this film are school life, love and friendship. The girls are wearing school uniform is most scenes which denotes they are teenagers.

The institutional logo and the other titles both have the same typography. The typography is a chalk board style as it is about school so it matches the theme. This would give a hint to the audience that the film is going to be about school life and young people.

It is also bold so it can stand out and it looks modern. The font is white so you can easily see it with a black background. There is also a picture of a game on the floor which is usually seen in a playground, this connotes that the film is about school life. The shoes are like school shoes which also goes with the playground image and the whole school theme.

The second screenshot displays the production companies which is the first thing that is shown after the institutional logo.

I have learnt that the institutional credits are a very important part of the film as it is the first scene which could introduce the genre and the themes. They also credit the people who was important in the production of the film, which I i did not know before as i thought it only showed the title. The credits do not have to be detailed to look good, when learning about institutional credits I saw a lot of simply credits which worked well as they went with the background or it fit the theme.
