Potential Music

Song choice 1 : Reeko Squeeze Ft Donaeo - Diablo

I think this song would work as the tone of the music is quite happy and the start of the film starts off quite happy, also the lyrics are are quite relatable to what we are trying to produce. The song also has themes of drugs and violence which is included within our film.

Song choice 2 :  Jhus - Guns and Butter
Talks about the struggle of living in the worst of conditions, it talks about from a young age people are introduced to things such as gun violence, he also talks about racism and how there is that struggle , but it may not match the tone of the start of the movie as it is quite slow and seems quite sad, but it could be good to introduce themes that will later occur, and the music will foreshadow later events.

Song Choice 3 : Yxng Bane - Never Change Me
This song talks about how the money won't change someone and how at the start of the movie they don't really have a lot of money and as the film progresses they begin to gain money and it changes one of the brothers but one of them stays the same. This could be confusing as money does change one of the brothers so it might not make sense so early on in the film as it is the opening sequence.

Production Log 12

What decisions did you make about your graphics this week?

This week we made graphics on final cut, we used a plain white text with the 'Gaz' font, it is quite bold and has cracks in it to make it seem less formal and relate to BSR films, also for the main title graphic 'Remedy' we filled the letters that may relate to BSR such as money, drugs and council flats and houses, the title is also very bold. Also the production company has the name trap in it (Trap Productions) connoting that it is to do with British themes, as a trap is somewhere where drugs are packaged.

How did your research into BSR and title conventions help shape these decisions?
The research we did on BSR and title conventions helped us the shaped these decisions as we used conventions that could be seen in reality within British society. Also as the movies are not really action packed we decided to make the font quite plain and basic but the cracks make it seem damaged connoting what the film could include. Also usual BSR films have quite plain titles. Films such as Kidulthood include the same kind of titles as it is just white and plain and kept very basic. Also as it is basic it could connote that it is cheap relating to other themes in BSR such as poverty. The only place we decided to make quite colorful is the main title as the start of the film is quite fun and upbeat so we wanted to create that emotion in  the audiences mind right from the start of the film. Although it is colorful the images inside still connote typical places and objects within British society for working class or Precariat, so even though there is a happy feeling the title creates the emotion of happiness and brings across a sense of concern, it creates enigma codes, for example "What do the characters have to go through as the movie progresses?

What have been your key issues for planning this week?

This week we have finished off out treatment we found it quite difficult to decide on certain things in the treatment and there were disagreements about what was to put in our production, as we had different ideas it was hard to find something in the middle which we could compromise on.

What decisions have you made about the issues this week ?
We decided to compromise and put our ideas together to make our production the ideas were quite hard to put together but things such as the mise-en-scene were an easy choice but other things such as the main concept of the film were quite hard so the ideas were combined to make the main plot of the production.

After this week we are ready to record and will begin our production next week.

Production Log 10

What decisions did we make about our content of the BSR treatment?

  • Well we made the decision of including everything that we will use in the production of our opening sequence, also we included the whole narrative of the film so we don't get confused when making it, it gave us a better idea of how long the opening sequence can be and the maximum amount we can include without giving away the whole plot. Also we decided to show regular conventions that would be seen in a BSR film.
What did I learn from my primary research?

  • From the primary research we learnt that the idea of the Hangover was good most people said that we should implement these ideas in to our production, they also thought overall our name was good but some thought it could be changed to give more meaning. Overall people enjoyed the main concept and some of the boys found it relatable and one girl said that the boys suit the production as boys in the UK stereo typically get involved with the situations.
How did it influence our planning?

  • It influenced our planning as it gave us better ideas on what we could do and also we saw what was good about are planning pre-interview it also influenced our planning as we saw how the plot could be improved and how we could entice the audience by using something like a plot twist or a flashback to not only entice the audience but create a sense of mystery.

Production Log 9

What did you learn about narrative last week?
  • I have learnt that there are different types of narrative, such as linear and non-linear. Linear meaning if the story of the film goes in order, from start, middle and end. Non-Linear meaning the story is not in chronological order. I also learnt about the McKee’s classic narrative structure, which gives a better insight of how the story of a film is structured instead of the simple, start, middle and end.
How did you use it this week?
  • I used what i learnt last week about the McKee’s classic narrative structure to help develop on our BSR film story, then made my own diagram for our film story using the trmplate. I also used what I learnt about what narratives BSR films usually use to develop our story. So the film was more realistic and so it could fit the criteria of an average BSR film.
What decisions did you make about the content of your BSR treatment?
  • We decided to talk about some equipment we could have used instead of the ordinary camera and tripod, such as microphone that are attached to each characters clothes. We also gave a summary of some of the locations which we was thinking about recording at and also added images of the locations for a better view and understanding. We only gave a summary of the locations as we will make a whole blog post about the locations.
